A medication review can help when current treatment is not working well, side effects are becoming difficult, symptoms have changed, or you need a follow-up after starting medication.
Spectrum Mind Healthcare provides medication review as part of a wider clinical process. The focus is safety, suitability, monitoring and long-term care.
Medication decisions should be clinically safe, carefully monitored and clearly explained.
Medication is prescribed and monitored by a Consultant Psychiatrist where clinically suitable.
Medication management is focused on safe, suitable and carefully monitored psychiatric treatment.
The clinician may review what you take, your dose, how long you have taken it, and whether it is helping.
Side effects, physical health factors and safety concerns may be reviewed. This may include blood pressure, pulse, weight, blood tests or ECG where clinically indicated.
If medication is suitable, dose changes are usually made gradually and reviewed through follow-up appointments.
Refills should usually be requested about two weeks before supply runs out. Some controlled medicines require the original hard-copy prescription before dispensing.
Medication costs are not included in consultation fees. They are paid directly to the pharmacy.
Medication is only prescribed where clinically suitable. No prescription is guaranteed.
Medication review follows a careful clinical pathway.
You explain what medication or treatment concern you need support with.
The clinician may ask about diagnosis, medication history, side effects and current symptoms.
Your treatment is reviewed carefully in the context of your needs.
You receive guidance on next steps, monitoring or follow-up.
Some patients may need continued monitoring until stable.
Once treatment is stable, Spectrum Mind Healthcare may write to your GP to request shared care, if your GP agrees.
Current pricing is available on the Spectrum Mind Healthcare website. Concessions or discounts may be available, and users should speak with the manager to discuss eligibility.
