Frequently asked questions

Practical information about our online-first assessment, booking and treatment pathways.

Appointments and assessments

Is Spectrum Mind Healthcare an online service?

Yes. Spectrum Mind Healthcare is primarily an online service. Secure video appointments are available across the UK, including Kent, Essex, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Leeds, Cardiff and Glasgow. Selected in-person appointments may be available in London where clinically appropriate.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book securely online using our booking system, where you will see available appointment types, times and current fees. You can also contact the administrative team if you need help choosing the most appropriate service.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. A GP referral is not required for a private assessment. With your consent, you can share your assessment report with your GP or another healthcare professional afterwards.

What conditions do you assess?

Our clinicians assess a range of neurodevelopmental and mental health presentations, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, anxiety, depression, OCD, bipolar disorder, trauma-related conditions, emotional dysregulation and complex mental health presentations.

Do you assess adults, young people and children?

We provide specialist assessment pathways for adults, young people and children. The appropriate pathway depends on the person’s age, needs and the type of assessment requested.

What happens after an assessment?

Your clinician will discuss the outcome with you, explain any diagnostic conclusions and make recommendations for next steps. Where applicable, you will receive a written report and care plan.

Treatment, medication and fees

Who provides regulated treatment services?

Following assessment and diagnosis, patients who wish to proceed with medication or other regulated treatment may access this through Spectrum Mind Healthcare’s clinical pathway.

In England, regulated treatment services, including prescribing and medication management where applicable, are delivered by ADHD Astute Ltd, an independent CQC-registered healthcare provider, under a formal clinical services agreement with Spectrum Mind Healthcare. Patients are informed of the provider arrangements before treatment begins.

Does the appointment fee include medication?

No. Medication costs are separate from assessment and clinical appointment fees. If a private prescription is clinically appropriate, the dispensing pharmacy will confirm the medication cost directly.

Where can I see current fees and payment options?

Current UK service fees are shown in pounds sterling in the secure booking system before you confirm a booking. Any available payment options are also shown there or explained by the administrative team.

Can I cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Yes. Please contact the administrative team as soon as possible. Our cancellation charges depend on the notice provided. Read the full Cancellation Policy before booking.

Support and contact

How can I make a complaint?

We take feedback and concerns seriously. You can use our secure Complaints form to tell us what happened and what outcome you would like us to consider.

What should I do in an emergency?
