This page outlines what to expect after booking an Autism and/or ADHD assessment with Spectrum Mind Healthcare.
All assessments follow a structured, Consultant Psychiatrist-led clinical pathway to ensure diagnostic accuracy, medical accountability and clarity at every stage.
Assessment Pathway at a Glance
1. Initial Information (Neurodevelopmental Screening)
Once you book a Neurodevelopmental Screening, we will request the following information to help determine whether a full assessment is appropriate:
- A brief description of current difficulties and concerns
- Medical history, including physical and mental health
- Current and previous medications (name, dose and frequency)
For children and young people, we will also request:
- Information from parents or carers
- School input, where available (for example from the class teacher, Head of Year or SENCO)
Screening questionnaires will be sent by email and must be completed before an assessment appointment can be scheduled.
2. Assessment Appointments
If screening indicates that a full assessment is appropriate, appointments will be arranged to include:
- A detailed clinical review of current challenges
- Exploration of developmental history and medical background
- A structured Autism and/or ADHD assessment conducted under Consultant Psychiatrist oversight
For ADHD assessments, QbCheck may be recommended:
- A computer-based test measuring attention, activity and impulsivity
- Used to support, not replace, clinical assessment and judgement
Diagnostic conclusions are made by the Consultant Psychiatrist using recognised diagnostic criteria.
