Before and During Your Psychiatric Assessment

Before your assessment, Spectrum Mind Healthcare may ask for information that helps the clinician prepare properly.

Before Your Assessment

You may be asked for a summary of your current challenges, medical history, previous diagnoses, medication history, reports, GP summaries, therapy notes and screening forms.

The First Appointment

The first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric assessment. The clinician may take a detailed clinical history, review symptoms, complete a mental state examination and discuss recommendations.

Feedback and Care Plan

After the assessment, Spectrum Mind Healthcare will explain the clinical impression and any working diagnosis where appropriate, alongside recommendations and next steps.

GP Letters and Reports

With consent, a summary letter can be sent to your GP or relevant professionals.

Medication, Physical Health Checks and Monitoring

If medication is being started or reviewed, physical health checks may be needed.

  • Blood pressure
  • Pulse
  • Weight
  • Height
  • Blood tests where clinically indicated
  • ECG where clinically indicated
  • Monitoring in line with prescribing guidance

Medication is only prescribed or reviewed where clinically suitable. Medication costs are not included in consultation fees and are paid directly to the pharmacy.

Psychiatric Assessment Process

Most psychiatric assessments follow a clear pathway so patients know what to expect.

1. Initial Enquiry

You contact Spectrum Mind Healthcare and explain what support you are looking for.

2. Clinical Information Gathering

Relevant background information and screening forms may be collected before the appointment.

3. Assessment with a Specialist Clinician

The clinician explores symptoms, history, mental state, risk and possible explanations.

4. Feedback and Recommendations

You receive clear feedback and recommendations for next steps.

5. Ongoing Support Where Needed

Some patients may benefit from follow-up, treatment planning or medication review.

Shared Care With Your GP

Once treatment is stable, Spectrum Mind Healthcare may write to your GP to request a shared-care arrangement. If specialist input is no longer required, a discharge summary and advice can be provided.

Pricing Information

Current pricing is available on the Spectrum Mind Healthcare website. Concessions or discounts may be available, and users should speak with the manager to discuss eligibility.

We had an ADHD medication initiation consultation with Dr Oyebanjo for my 6 year old daughter. The Dr was very friendly and instantly made us feel comfortable. He took the time to understand what our objectives were and explained everything in great detail. We had time to ask lots of questions and walked away feeling listened to and were very happy with the plan. I would highly recommend Dr Oyebanjo.

We had an excellent experience with Dr Oyebanjo - he was always really kind, pleasant and helpful and extremely professional, too. I have already recommended Spectrum Mind Clinic to a number of my friends and will certainly continue to do so - we are really grateful for their help and advice.
